  • The United States Trade Representative (USTR) included one shopping mall in Bangkok in its 2025 “Notorious Markets” report, which identifies places linked to large amounts of counterfeit or pirated goods.

  • The report listed 69 markets worldwide (37 online and 32 physical markets) across 19 countries.

  • Thailand had only one physical location on the list, a mall in central Bangkok (widely reported as MBK Center).

  • Thai authorities say they have increased enforcement against intellectual-property violations, working with police to raid shops and crack down on counterfeit products.

  • Mall operators have also terminated leases of vendors caught selling fake goods and closed several shops.

  • However, officials admit some sellers still try to avoid inspections, such as by using temporary stalls or other tactics. Authorities plan to continue stricter enforcement.
